Caraoke ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information when you use the Caraoke mobile application and website at caraoke.life.
Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information:
- Account information: When you create an account using email/password or Google Sign-In, we collect your email address, display name, and a unique user ID assigned by Firebase Authentication.
- Performance data: We store your karaoke scores, song history, and performance statistics to power leaderboards and social features.
- Friends data: If you choose to add friends within the app, we store your friends list to enable social features.
- Location data: We use your device's GPS speed data solely to detect whether you are moving in a vehicle, in order to display our Passenger Mode reminder. We do not store or transmit your location.
- Device camera and microphone: If you enable video recording, we access your camera and microphone to record your performance. Recordings are stored locally on your device only and are never uploaded to Caraoke servers. You control when and how to share them.
- Usage data: We may collect anonymized data about how you use the app to improve the product.
How We Use Your Information
- To provide and operate the Caraoke service
- To display your scores, leaderboards, and social features
- To enable music video playback within the app via the official YouTube Player
- To improve and develop the app
- To communicate with you about your account or the service
Information Sharing
We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We may share information in the following limited circumstances:
- With other users: Your display name, scores, and performance history are visible to your friends within the app if you choose to add friends.
- Service providers: We use Firebase (Google) for authentication and database services. Their privacy policies apply to data processed by their services.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights.
Third-Party Services
Caraoke integrates with the following third-party services:
- YouTube: Music video playback is powered by the official YouTube Player API. Your use of YouTube within Caraoke is subject to YouTube's Privacy Policy.
- Firebase (Google): We use Firebase for user authentication and data storage. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
- LRCLIB: We use LRCLIB to retrieve synchronized song lyrics. We send only song titles and artist names to retrieve matching lyrics.
- AdMob (Google): Free tier users may see ads served by Google AdMob. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
Data Retention
We retain your account data and performance history for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at the email below.
Children's Privacy
Caraoke is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your Rights
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information. To exercise these rights, contact us at the email address below. You may also delete your account directly within the app.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting a notice in the app or by email. Your continued use of Caraoke after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
